Tuscan Museums for Alzheimer's

Cultural heritage is a resource to help manage pathologies in persons with dementia, carers, professionals and family members. Tuscan Museums for Alzheimer's is an inclusive network that works with social assistance services and volunteer organizations. In environments without physical or cognitive barriers like museums, people with dementia can participate fully in social and cultural life and inside the museum the experience is enhanced by cognitive stimulus interventions and/or occupational therapy. The model is expanding beyond the borders of the Region and with the European project Musuems art and Alzheimer, it includes Germany, Lithuania and Ireland. https://agcult.it/a/36919/2021-05-04/welfare-culturale-mta-musei-toscani-per-l-alzheimer In the period of the Covid-19 pandemic the project was developed for patients and carers, with special attention to the digital divide.
