The State of Music-Based Interventions for Mental Illness: Thought Leaders on Barriers, Opportunities, and the Value of Interdisciplinarity
The qualitative study examines the application of music as a support for mental health. 36 leaders from relevant disciplines with expertise in music and health analyzed preliminary findings from global research highlighting: barriers to research quality/improvement, disciplinary differences, recommendations for research, implementation and access, public perception and education, and training needs, as well as recommendations for improving the effectiveness of interventions and equitable access to music as a mental health support.
