Pre-text
Pre-text is a multi-centre educational protocol designed and developed by Harvard University to support a range of literacy, social participation and civic education goals. When goals intersect, high impact is achieved at low cost. The protocol was designed at Harvard, but partners around the world attest to its results (schools, universities, cultural and social institutions).
Pre-text promotes reading and artistic and cultural expression from a text, in a process of community building. Participants master the content by using it to create new visual and performative expressions. Simple, yet rigorous, Pre-Texts fits any curriculum and cultural taste.
