National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH)

NCCIH conducts and supports research and development of methods for the alleviation and treatment of hard to manage symptoms; promotes health and illness prevention; works towards improving integrative and complementary health research; disseminates evidence based information on complementary and integrative health.

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) is a United States federal research agency which explores complementary and alternative medicine. It is one of the 27 institutes and centers that make up the National Institutes of Health (NIH) within the federal Department of Health and Human Services. Its mission is: to define, through rigorous scientific investigation, the usefulness and safety of complementary and alternative medicine interventions and their roles in improving health and health care.
