The International Academy for Design and Health was founded by the designer Alan Dilani at the Karolinska Institute, Medical University of Stockholm in 1997 after the positive result of the 1st world congress in Trondheim in Norway. It organizes a highly visible annual global forum with an international and interdisciplinary community: scientists, planners, health professionals, industries and Health Ministries from around the world with the aim of promoting results of research on the interaction between design, health, science and culture. It favors a salutogenic approach in designing environments that promote health and wellbeing.
