The Department of Social Welfare and Health Sciences was established in the 1996 academic year. Until 2006, the Department operated under the name of the Department of Social Welfare and Health Sciences. The name was then changed to Sciences to reflect the high disciplinary development of all the departments and schools that comprise the Department. Today, the Department awards bachelor's degrees in six academic units (Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Human Resources, Medical Imaging, and Communication Sciences and Disorders); master's degrees in ten academic programs (Public Health: MPH, MHA, and MAN; and master's degrees in: Gerontology, Social Work, Community Mental Health, Creative Arts Therapies, Nursing, Human Resources, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Communication Sciences and Disorders); and doctoral degrees in Social Work, Gerontology, Occupational Therapy, and Public Health.
