Arts on prescription

The programme Arts on Prescription has been active for around twenty years in the United Kingdom within a larger set of programmes promoting health and prevention. Persons who come to their family doctor presenting with medically hard to classify problems (like social isolation and loneliness, which account for 20-30% of medical consultations in the United Kingdom) or who need psychosocial support such as prevention for their own health, may be referred to a link worker who establishes a relationship between patients and community activities, including those involving participatory arts. The study does not assess biological impact.
